As of May 31, 2025, Intuit has officially ended support for the 2022 version of QuickBooks Desktop. This follows the company’s earlier decision in April 2025 to stop selling new subscriptions for all 2022 versions, including Pro, Premier, and Payroll services to new Canadian customers.
Additionally, Intuit has not released a 2025 version of QuickBooks Desktop, and based on current patterns, it’s probable that QuickBooks Desktop 2023 will be phased out in 2026 and QuickBooks Desktop 2024 will follow in 2027.
These developments strongly suggest that Intuit is moving toward the complete sunset of the QuickBooks Desktop product line and transitioning to cloud-based versions.
What does this mean for businesses?
If your business still relies on QuickBooks Desktop 2022 or earlier versions, now is the time to plan for a long-term accounting solution.
Without support, integrated services will stop functioning, technical assistance will no longer be available and security updates, including compliance features, will be discontinued.
Businesses relying solely on QuickBooks Desktop and other platforms should begin planning for long-term accounting software solutions to avoid disruptions and ensure they can receive support.
Intuit encourages users to now move to options that will continue to be supported, such as QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise or QuickBooks Online.
We are pleased to report that most of our clients have moved to QuickBooks Online and enjoy the experience of working through their numbers in the cloud with S+C Partners collaboratively.
At S+C Partners, we’re committed to supporting your business.
